For TBBC, this is more than just an “in thing” to say. In fact, it’s Core Value #6 for us.
For years, our personal training business donated to random charities and held “Boot Camp for a Cause” events. We’ve supported causes ranging from childhood autism to breast cancer to veterans in need. Essentially, we were supporting any charity our clients asked us to. While this was great, I felt like we were spreading our donations out among many charities and not significantly affecting any one organization.
As of April 1st, 2017, TBBC has partnered with the John Theissen Children’s Foundation (JTCF). Essentially, TBBC will be donating on a monthly basis to this great local charity.
We believe very strongly in the JTCF mission:
- Provide hospitals and child-care facilities with therapeutic and recreational equipment
- Support families with financial assistance to defray medical expenses
- Offer sick and needy children toys throughout the holiday season
- Fulfill patient’s (ages birth to 18 years old) wishlists throughout the year
- Assist sick and underprivileged children
After vetting many charities, we chose JTCF for several reasons.
First, higher than 90% of their donations go to program services. Unfortunately, this isn’t the case for many charities.
JTCF has a five star rating with the IRS. This is no easy feat and means that they are financially transparent and responsible.
No children are turned down as they help youngsters with any condition.
JTCF helps children under 18 all across Long Island. We’re literally helping our very own community.
As a bonus, the founder, John Theissen is passionate about health and fitness. His own dedication to exercise and good nutrition have helped him overcome many of his own obstacles.
